Fitness Freak: As the name suggests, almondmilk is made up of milk, almonds and sweeteners.
However, there are almond milks availablethat are not sweet.
In general, it has a low amount of sugar thatmakes it a good option for people who have
diabetes.
Additionally, almond milk has a lot of goodstuff in it.
It is good for your skin.
(Note to Editor/PP: The fitness freak holdsup his hand to show his flawless skin.)
Notice my flawless skin?
The secret to my healthy skin, apart fromme taking care of it, is almond milk.
It contains Vitamin E, which helps in maintainingthe optimal state of my skin.
Vitamin E also combats inflammation and stressin the body.
Apart from that, almond milk has antioxidantsthat help in repairing damaged skin and regulate
Vitamin A. You can also mix it with rose waterand use it as a skin lotion.
Hey, you have to do some hard work if youwant a healthy skin.
It is good for your heart
(Note to Editor/PP: The fitness freak keepsher/his hand on her/his chest.)
SFX: Sound of Heartbeat
Hear that?
That is the sound of a healthy heart.
Now, I would not be able to workout regularlyif I had a heart problem.
A healthy heart is important as the heartis an important organ that pumps blood and
helps to circulate it throughout your body.
And while cow's milk may be high in protein,it is not necessarily good for our heart.
Our heart often gets affected by the cholesteroland saturated fat that is found in cow’s
milk.
While, almond milk contains no such properties.
Additionally, it contains omega fatty acidsthat prevents high blood pressure and other
heart related diseases.
Almond milk also helps in reducing the riskof coronary heart disease.
Now, I would not have been able to do allthese exercises and take care of myself, if
I did not have a healthy heart.
It is good for bones and muscles
(Note to Editor/PP: The fitness freak boastsoff her/his muscles.)
See these beauties, *showing off his muscles*.
I know, I know, they are great.
I had to work really, really hard to get themtoo.
They do not just appear out of the blue.
But, working hard in the gym is just one partof it.
The major part is eating the things that canhelp in the development of your muscles.
You need to consume good stuff, after all,you are what you eat.
Or, in this case, you are what you drink.
Almond milk can contribute 20–45% of yourdaily needed calcium.
Calcium helps in strengthening our bones, reduces the risk of fractures and Osteoporosis.
This calcium along with riboflavin, a typeof Vitamin B, which is also found in almond
milk strengthens your muscles.
And this brings us to our next point...
Riboflavin also boosts our healing factor.
(Note to Editor/PP: The fitness freaks thinksabout Wolverine, a Canadian mutant and a member
of the X-Men.)
SFX: Just a suggestion; add the sound thatLogan's claws make when they are popping out.
I think it is something like, SCHNIT!
Speaking of healing factor, it reminds meof Wolverine.
He is my favorite mutant of all time.
Unfortunately for us though, we are not mutantslike him and hence we do not have such strong
mutations.
But, that does not mean we cannot boost ourmetabolism or enhance our healing factor.
Riboflavin does exactly that.
So, while you won't be healing from a woundright away.
You would be healing faster than people whohave lesser amounts of riboflavin in their
bodies.
But, hey that is not all…
Almond milk also keeps your digestion in checkand it does not contain any form of lactose.
That means if you have lactose intolerance, almond milk could be your alternative for
your daily dose of calcium.
Now, isn’t that awesome?
However, is it still a good alternative tocow’s milk though?
Well, it does have one major flaw.
It lacks protein
SFX: Sound of a disappointed crowd in a football(soccer) game.
Yes, you heard that right.
Almond milk contains less protein than soy'smilk and cow's milk.
One cup or 240 ml of almond milk has justone gram of protein.
Compared to it, cow’s milk or soy’s milkof the same quantity have about 8 to 10 grams
of protein.
So, almond milk may be a good alternativeif you have other sources where you can extract
protein from.
There are many options to do so, such as eggs, meat, many different types of green vegetables,
etc.
If you have your daily protein quota in checkthen shifting to almond milk should not be
a problem for you.
So, let us summarise what we have learnedabout Almond milk:
It is a rich source of Vitamin E and thusis good for the skin.
You can even use it as a lotion by mixingrose water to it.
Almond milk contains omega fatty acids thatreduces the risk of coronary heart diseases.
It is a rich source of calcium and riboflavinthat help in strengthening bones and muscles.
Riboflavin also helps to boost healing factorand immunity.
Despite all its major pros, it has one verycritical con that being it lacks protein.
SFX: Sound of crying in the corner, followedby a short “Hello Darkness my old friend”
song clip.
Oh and one more thing that we would like toadd, almond milk is not a good option for
infants.
Infants until the age of six months need tobe breastfed for a better growth and development.
After six months they can be introduced toother liquid alternatives.
But, due to the lack of protein, almond milkis not a recommended alternative.
SFX: Sound of a timer.
Time to go back to workout.
FItness Freak: Looks like my time is up.
Well, that's what I had to say about almondmilk.
If you ask me you can surely give it a try, provided that you are consuming other sources
of protein.
(Note to Editor/PP: The fitness freak goesto treadmill and starts running on it.
He struggles to keep up with the speed.)
Fitness Freak: Hey wait a minute, the speedis not ri…
WOOOOOAAAAAAHHH!
(Note to Editor/PP: The fitness freak slipsand falls down.)
Fitness Freak: Ouch!
That hurts.
I should have checked the speed.
Anyway, now that you have come to the endof the video.
